Far inferior to our old model - would not recommend

"This was a replacement for our previous Samsung, which gave us 13 years of solid service and was a pleasure to use. However, it has been very disappointing compared to the previous one. My main gripe is that the ‘chilled’ water does not come out chilled. Even now (warm July but not the heatwave of last week) the coldest the water comes out is 14C, and that’s first thing in the morning when it has been sitting in the reservoir all night. 18-20C during the day (ambient temp maybe 24-26C) is not unusual. We are waiting for an engineer to visit and tell us whether this is a fault or whether this is the performance we should expect - Samsung could not answer that question on the phone.

Other things that I think are not as good as the old model: two veg drawers instead of 3, they are very deep but that doesn’t help me organise things without them getting squashed! Also the bottom drawer isn’t the full depth or width of the appliance. The lighting is also not as good, mainly coming from the top rather than as a strip down the back of the whole fridge like my old one. So only the top shelf is directly illuminated. The rest is quite dark.

I am also not keen on the handleless design. Obviously I knew this feature when I bought it but with the ‘suction’ effect on the doors, in practice i find it less easy to open than the model with handles when I’m rushing about (I haven’t yet set up the voice-opening as I am not sure I’m keeping it).

Overall the interior space is great, it is energy efficient, but I just don’t like it. I am not faffing about with putting jugs of water in the door for the next 15 years just to get a cold drink so if it isn’t faulty and easily fixed it will have to go back, even if it costs me to return it. Very disappointing and a lot of hassle. "

A Few Niggles

"Decent size but feels like a slight downgrade from our previous Samsung fridge freezer as the water doesnt feel chilled/cool, doesn't produce sparkling water (please Samsung bring back fridges that did that and had a drinks drawer!).

Also, the self opening sensor on the freezer compartment is very frustrating as my arm frequently catches it when going in the fridge. Then I have to wait for the motor to open the freezer door before I can shut it again.

Cools and freezes food though, so does what it's supposed to. "
