That said, that product itself is a little disappointing.

We have managed to complete various wash programmes successfully but the process for drying is very difficult to understand.

I’m sure we will fair better in time but presently feel we have purchased effectively an expensive washing machine. "

"Bought this 3 weeks ago as a replacement for an old Hotpoint washer dryer which, a couple of easy repairs aside, lasted us about 12 years. Compared to our old one, this seems overly complicated however this is probably because we live in an age of "smart" washing machines, which learn programmes and decide how long the wash will be based on load weight and other factors etc to make it more efficient/Eco-friendly. A 40 degree wash and spin is still long though, even though it may shorten the maximum time for the programme. Max time for 40 degree cotton wash with dry is 3hrs55mins. The shortest time it has done that in is about 2 hrs 40 mins, and that was not fully loaded. There is a rapid wash function but this is only for 30 degrees.

The dyer is likewise a little complex. We put it on to dry some towels twice and both times it did nothing but make a clicking and gurgling sound for 15 mins. I thought this was broken and rang Hotpoint for advice. They confirmed that this is absolutely normal and it can do this for a fair amount of the drying programme. e.g. 60 mins on a 90 min dry! Again, the dryer is "learning" based on weight and how wet the clothes are. In fact, apparently, if they do not detect dampness, it won't work at all. Also she recommended running one of the auto drying programmes the first time you use the dryer. The lady at Hotpoint said she constantly gets asked questions from concerned buyers regarding the dryer and why it won't start working immediately. She was very helpful but I feel like her job could be made easier if Hotpoint simply confirmed this in the instructions. Still, it is working, even if it doesn't seem as easy as our old Hotpoint. e.g. choose drying time, press button!

The instructions are terrible. A quick guide, comes with machine but doesn't give you all the programmes, so you have to download them or, download and print them like I did. They don't print well, so you need a microscope to read them, plus again, not convinced they have all the info we need to use every aspect of the machine. It is early days with this machine however we are not fans of the user experience, so far and either myself or my wife are definitely not technophobes. "
