Great looking product with good features

Regretting going for the cheapest option

"We had an electric Belling range cooker before, but after about twelve years had got to the stage where the parts were no longer available to fix a few broken hotplates (thanks to both the heating part and the stats breaking down), so we had to ditch an otherwise perfectly good oven. Thought to get as near as like-for-like as possible but with induction option, and were happy to see this about £1k less than the nearest alternative. Now starting to realise why.

Immediately the induction hotplates caused problems. Turning down one would cause another to heat up. One never recognises our pans at all. Also an issue with the oven itself; it doesn't get up to temperature, and drips condensation all over the floor when we open it. Worst of all, the fan is NOISY and lasts for up to an hour.

I called Belling and was told that it would be possible to get an engineer out to change the timer free of charge so it only lasts for half an hour, which wouldn't be in any way detrimental to the appliance. Didn't make sense - either it needs an hour's runtime, or it doesn't. If not, then why are they sending this machine out in full knowledge that it's going to unnecessarily annoy their customers?

In due course along comes the engineer. Turns out it's a little more complex, and means changing the cabling as well, so they can manage the fan turning off at 70º rather than 45º. (No wonder it was running so long.) He also confirmed that the induction unit is faulty, so the whole hotplate piece beneath the surface needs replacing - not just the faulty bit. Meaning we're apparently going to be left with a large piece of kit the size of the whole hotplate unit to get rid of. When the engineer returns, which hasn't yet been confirmed. Hopefully at that same time he can look at the oven issue as well.

In all, really disappointed. Belling seems a good make - maybe we've just been unlucky with a faulty appliance. But would much rather they just take it away and give us a new one, or give us our money back so we can look at alternative brands. As it is, we've spent a chunk and are in a worse position than with our previous broken oven. Next time I'll think more carefully about why it's so much cheaper than the rest..."

Fabulous to look at, a dream to cook in

"So this cooker was for my parents, who had always used gas. I was dreading them getting used to it. Well I needn’t have worried. First it looks great and is solid, sturdy and well made. The fan ovens and grill are perfect for a big family dinner with all the trimmings and keeping the plates warm. Also, heat distribution is v even and the main oven has an air fryer function. The hob is induction. I was v worried about this, but it is super responsive. I made a roux yesterday and was amazed how controllable the temperature was.

Induction seems to pulse on and off so pans don’t boil over as easy. And even if they did, the hob has no protrusions, it is literally wipe clean. So ?? from me "
