Great dishwasher (once installed!)

Pros: Ease to use, Good build quality, Quiet

"This dishwasher is really good - we love the '3rd shelf' above the cup drawer ... brilliant for long knives, fish slices and wooden spoons etc. It washes really well, and is really quiet. We had a bit of trouble installing it - the SMEG plug sticks out a long way, and because the socket was right behind the appliance we couldn't push it back far enough to make it flush with the other units - so ended up having to hard wire the lead into the socket. But once in, it looked really good.

The brilliant top (knife) drawer has a sideways sliding mechanism - you do need to master this in order to stop the cup and knife drawer getting stuck together when you pull the drawers out. And the cutlery basket has holes that are too big for teaspoons, which tend to fall into the bottom of the basket ... getting them out again is a painful experience as the basket lid has 'teeth'! Just make sure you drop teaspoons into the small slots!

Would I recommend this dishwasher - yes. Why - it's well made, it's quiet, it has a fast eco wash, and it washes glasses really well"

Brilliant appliance

Pros: Ease to use, Good build quality, Quiet

Cons: None

"Delighted with my new dishwasher. It sits in an open plan kitchen/dining/livingroom so was looking for the quietest DW in this price bracket without having to spend a ridiculous amount. Yes, it is very quiet. The capacity far exceeded my expectations and I love the cutlery tray at the very top. Once I had read all the instructions for the different settings - very easy to use. Love the Quick Wash button which reduces the wash time of every setting. I put my DW on the hot and fast setting and it's all done in 51-54 minutes - how fab is that especially if you have a lot to clear up. The trays and racks have a robust feel and are smooth to roll out and in.

Fairly straightforward to install (I did it - no tradesmen available as quickly as I needed right before Xmas!) though the instructions for attaching my kitchen door onto the front were difficult for me to understand but I've never installed a fully integrated DW before!

Overall delighted!"

Stylish addition to our new kitchen.

Pros: Ease to use, Good build quality, Looks good, Love the cutlery tray addition, Quiet, Value for money

Cons: Strange cutlery basket design

"Firstly I have to say, I really like the look of the Smeg dishwasher. It has a nice sliver control panel which blends nicely with my kitchen units, giving it a slick finish. This finish then continues in the dishwasher itself, I especially like the polished chrome handles on the dishwasher baskets.

One of my favourite features of the dishwasher is the cutlery trays on the upper section of the dishwasher, just above the cup basket, it is a really useful idea as it means I can clean larger items like whisks and other cooking/baking utensils in the same load with the rest of my crockery.

The only thing I disliked, purely from the fact I simply didn’t understand the point of it, was the design of the cutlery basket. It has a pointed teeth entrance. That was supposedly for putting your spoons, knives, forks etc. Personally I found it to be more of a pain, frequently my tea spoons would slide down to the bottom of the basket and I would gingerly have to pass my fingers against the “teeth” to retrieve the lost item. After a while doing this can become tedious, I found myself not using the basket much but opting to use the cutlery tray instead. I think this section could do with a rethink.

Aside from that, I have been very impressed by the various different features that the Smeg dishwasher offers. You are give a good instruction manual with lists all the programs and different combinations you can do. I favoured the programs such as the quick washes, as I sometimes needed items quickly but couldn’t be bothered to do a hand wash. My other favourite is the Hyclean “Ultra Clean” which can be added onto the end of another wash cycle. I particularly like this as I have a toddler and with winter bugs being rife at the minute, it is nice to be able to give my cycle a final antibacterial rinse to my selected program to ensure all germs and nasty bugs are dead.

I am thoroughly impressed by my new Smeg dishwasher. One of the most important things to note about this product, especially if like us you live in an open plan kitchen/dining/living room space. Is that Smeg have produced a very quiet unit. It was extremely important to us that we have a quiet machine, that we can’t hear whilst we are relaxing in the living room section of the room. My friends have all complained about how annoying it is to have a noisy appliances whilst watching a movie/tv, so we were keen to find a quiet product to avoid this situation. Thankfully we found what we were looking for in this dishwasher. Very happy with it and would certainly recommend it to others.

Nothing Special

Pros: Quiet

Cons: Expensive

"I paid a lot more for this dishwasher over some others with very little obvious difference. It doesn't appear to take all-in-one tablets, or alert me when the levels of salt are low which it mentions in the instructions. The door is supposed to pop open when its finished but this only seems to happen on some REALLY long wash options - I talking over three hours. If you use the eco option on a programme, it doesn't happen. It's quiet, a red light flashes when its washing, its capacious and I'm hoping my energy bills will come down, but I feel I spent a lot of money for nothing special."

Design over practicality

Pros: Value for money

Cons: Poor quality

"We needed a dishwasher in a hurry and the SMEG unit seemed to tick all the boxes especially in relation to capacity and efficiency. I can only compare it to the Bosch machine it replaced but the build quality is poor. The capacity is high in quantity but only if your crockery is out of a dolls house. Even full sized knives don't fit in the knife rack. The cutlery drawer has runners that hardly roll. The glasses drawer rolls so fast everything falls over and full sized dinner plates hit the rotors. It is madness in one unit."

Some problems

Pros: Good build quality, Quiet

Cons: Complicated, Expensive

"I made a mistake when ordering. I wanted a full size machine and did not notice this was 820mm high. The top basket does not support glasses and cups on a stable angle very well and some items come out wet. The instruction manual we found lacking as it covers features for several variants."
