Good oven but poor customer service from Hoover

"Purchased over a week ago and I still cannot connect the oven which is why it was purchased, contacted Hoover a week ago regarding this problem they said they would get back to me within 48 hours to get it sorted, but nothing at all not even an email. Tried several times to connect it but every time you cannot get any further that the serial number your have entered is not correct. Why sell an oven that has WiFi that doesn't work, could have saved so much money on an oven that doesn't have WiFi but one that does the same job.

The worlds oddest oven

"This is the strangest oven I have ever come across - the interface is incredibly unintuitive - you have to scroll through an extra menu to get to any useful settings. It sometimes flashes up SON DO - no idea why, I now treat it as a friendly greeting in some sort of simlish language from my slightly simple, but good hearted oven.

My first issue with the oven was the meat thermometer - as a vegetarian, I was not going to use this so simply ignored it & carried on setting up the oven. Then I tried to put the oven onto to its maximum temp (as per the instructions for its first run). Despite trying all the settings, I couldn’t get the oven to go above 200C. Eventually I removed the probe and all the settings changed - allowing me to heat it up to 240C! Not sure if this a standard thing with probes, but it completely threw me.

After the first few hiccups & working out how to navigate the menu, the oven itself seemed to work fine, until I tried to use WiFi function... I am not sure what the designers were thinking here - it is equally as odd as the normal user interface:

Firstly, you can only use the WiFi function if you disable the other buttons on the oven. Most people are not going to open the app every time they want to cook, so unless you pre plan & switch the oven to WiFi mode, you are not going to be able to get the oven heating up whilst out of the house. If you do have WiFi on & you go to set an alarm or do anything else on the actual oven - you will disable the WiFi.

Secondly, the app you have to use is just bizarre - it looks like a child’s first coding project. There are three main options in the app:

In the programme wizard you can select pre programmed cooking options eg. Potatoes for 4 people - this will switch the heat down at certain times etc.

In dynamic chef you can create your own recipes - but first you have to give them a name - a much more difficult task than you might imagine. A screen comes up saying enter recipe name - but no keyboard appears - you then have to randomly tap at the phone screen until you find an invisible text box - then you can create your own pre programmed cooking times.

Now, like 99% of people I don’t bother with the programme options on ovens or microwaves - I just put the oven on to the right temp and put whatever food I want in the oven.

So if you are like me then it is the third app option you want - ’Rapid Selection’. You tap the oven setting you want, choose the temperate and you can delay the start if you like. God knows why, but what you cannot do is set any sort of timer... it sets a 5 hour timer no matter how much you click around in the app settings.

WHY!? The obvious function of a WiFi oven would be to alert you when the food is done - it will alert you when the oven is heated & with the pre-programme options it alerts you when its timers are done - so why can’t I set a timer in rapid selection?!. You can’t even see how long is left on the 5 hour timer in the app - it will only tell you when the 5 hours is up. You might think you could go to the oven and put a timer on - but no - for whatever reason this disables WiFi mode.

Finally let me tell you about ‘Read’ mode - I thought this might be the solution for my WiFi woes - it is meant to let you see details about the oven in the app. I assumed you would be able to see how long is left on the timer, what the temp is etc. But nope, the function of ‘Read’ mode appears to be to simply to let you know you have an oven. You see, when you have WiFi mode off, the oven appears offline in the app - with ‘read’ mode it appears online, but has absolutely no functionality - you can click the oven & just a screen with a drawing of an oven appears.

I can only assume that because the oven has WiFi functionality Hoover thought they could update everything later on, but they haven’t bothered. My advice to Hoover would be to stick to the vacuum cleaners "

"We haven't been able to test the product yet as another seller not a and o haven't delivered on time. The delivery was great, Rang to confirm and even turned up early!"
