Works well, but for how long...

"Excellent, when it works, but beware...

Bought this as it was on special, and I decided with the price of energy going from a hungry condenser drier to a heat-pump made sense. Arrived on time, fired it up, worked beautifully for the first 3.5 months.

Then one day, my wife asked me why the drier had stopped - for some reason it just sat there and did nothing. I hit the start button, off it went so just assumed the button had been knocked, but then it stopped again. Tried to turn it off, and it wouldn't go off despite putting the programmer knob in the "off" position. Switched it off at the wall, turned it back on, same problem. Also it only recognised alternate programs when turning the programmer, and would randomly act like someone was pressing buttons; the drum light would go on and off, it would beep randomly etc.

So, rang Beko - took about 30 mins then got told engineer would be out in a week; not ideal, but such is life. Waited.... Engineer came a week later, took one look at the drier and said "oh, the controller board I have is the wrong one. I'll have to book another callout." Christmas then intervened, and being without a drier at Xmas is not ideal, so had to buy another cheap drier to tide us over in the meantime. Heard nothing from Beko until the engineer turned up on 5th January with a controller board! Swapped it over, same fault. Went to the van to get the other controller board (there are 2 apparently), only to find they'd sent the same one twice.

At this point, I'd had enough. Beko didn't want to replace the drier and could see no problem with me entertaining numerous callouts with no resolution so after threatening opening a section 75 claim and mentioning the consumer rights act 2015, AO agreed to replace the drier. I now have a shiny new one which (touch wood) appears to be working.

Things I like - it looks good, it dries clothes well, it uses very little electricity, and if you need clothes in a hurry you can turn on Rapiddry. However, a drier this expensive should come with better customer service, and a 1 year warranty is totally unacceptable when even cheap washing machines come with 3-5 years; are tumble driers intrinsically less reliable despite being significantly less complex? Also not sure why it's gone up in price by so much - I got it for just under 500 quid back in August.

Great product, life saver

"Really happy with my purchase of this tumble dryer - it's easy to set up and use; just plug it in and you're ready to go. It also adjusts the time of the cycle according to its dry sensor which is great for knowing its not running longer than it needs to. With a new baby in the house born in winter, having laundry to do every day and not being able to dry out outside, this tumble dryer has been a life saver. I would definitely recommend. "

So glad i bought this

"Much cheaper to run than my old condenser drier, and the clothes dry quicker. The drum capacity is really big, it has a double filter so no fluff left in machine and the clothes come out soft and easy to iron. I would buy again"
