"Just a tip for people trying to use Alexa on an Echo Dot (with clock in my case).
I have seen reviews that complain that the TCL Assistant/Echo Dot can only turn OFF the TCL TV, but not turn it on.
Thinking about it for a nanosecond or two, that is physical reality.
If there is no current going into the TV Circuits then Alexa cannot communicate to the turned-off-TV.
Unless the manufacturers/designers decided to leave the TV on a low power state that only waited to execute Alexa voice commands.
Which might be possibly forbidden by the Government due to energy efficiency concerns.
Also, if like me, you only have HDMI inputs, and no TV Aerial, just a Broadband internet connection and/or Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Freesat connections, you cannot control the channels or stations that are on the HDMI link, since the programmers cannot program for so many different types of device that may be using the HDMI cable.
