TV's Good - When it decides to work.

"Before you read this review, please be aware that AO have done everything right customer service-wise so far. This review is based purely on this (extremely frustrating) TV.

Reason 1) The TV regularly loses internet connection. I contacted Philips and they literally told me that I should "always wait at least 5 minutes before accessing the network". I have never seen a Smart TV that requires a 5 minute start-up. It doesn't always automatically connect. The WiFi router is through a wall, but is literally no more than a foot away. There is no connection issues with any other device in that room (phones, google home etc).

Reason 2) The sound and the picture don't match. It's EXTREMELY annoying watching someone speak yet the words don't match the face. No amount of tinkering with the delay has remedied this.

Reason 3) The remote literally feels like a fake copy. The remote is extremely light compared to the other Philips TV remote I have, however it doesn't always register inputs. Sometimes the TV light flashes to show that it's registered the input, but it doesn't actually do anything, suggesting to me that there's also some kind of software issue with the TV rather than the box.

Reason 4 (the big reason why not to buy this TV). -

I contacted Philips for assistance, advising them of the issues. I was sent a substantially large email with a number of instructions on how to remedy 2/3 of the issues I raised, with them completely ignoring the audio issue.

They chased me for an update after 2 days of receiving this, to which I replied... and 2 days after sending my response, they had the audacity to reply: "Unfortunately, we haven’t received any feedback or update from your side on our previous inquiries. Therefore, we believe in good faith that your query is no longer valid and are closing this case herewith."

My query is no longer valid? Herewith? I'd expect to be spoken to like that by a lawyer with a legal document, not some customer care advisor who I'm raising issues with about the TV.

Despite responding to their email, my query was closed. I have replied (again) for them to reopen this, but in all likelihood I'll be returning the TV due to the extremely poor service received by Philips. "

An expensive mistake

"Bought in a hurry to replace a Samsung which suddenly broke. Buyer's remorse was almost instant. The sound and picture on this unit are worse than on the TV it replaced (which is 4 years old, and from a similar price bracket), and the picture presets in particular are laughable. The interface is clunky and unintuitive, and there is no Bluetooth support for wireless headphones. I made an error when buying as I had quickly googled Phillips TVs and convinced myself that they all have an Android based interface (and therefore all the apps one might expect a reasonable smart TV to have), but instead found this one to be running Phillips own software, which frankly isn't up to the job. The range of apps is limited, with Now TV and Disney+ notably absent. Were the sound and picture quality up to scratch, I'd deal with this by buying a Roku or Amazon streaming stick, but as things stand, this TV will be relegated to a bedroom once the older telly is repaired. While I am kicking myself for not checking the spec in more detail, I'm genuinely surprised that something this lacklustre is sold for this kind of price. "
