Ambient lighting is everything!

"Loving my new telly! The picture is super clear and sharp. And, well. my friends were laughing at me, but I am obsessed with the ambient lighting. I love it. It just makes watching tv more of an experience. Maybe I need to get out more? But would definitely recommend -and the reviews I read prior to buying it were really helpful - so thanks to the people that left them."

Excellent Value for money with some little issues

"I’ve purchased this as a 2nd TV for my bedroom and I have to admit that I don’t think you can get better value for your money. It’s well worth purchasing and if you get it on clearance then you can’t go wrong. Having read reviews about the TV I knew pretty much what I was getting and it’s lived up to those expectation. I was specifically after a TV with HDR 10+, Dolby Atmos & Vision to go with my existing Philips Soundbar and Apple TV. I wasn’t too worried about any other features although I thought Ambilight might be quite a cool but an added bonus feature if I liked it. I’ve not used that much just for the occasional movie but not general TV watching. There are something’s that do knock the rating down for me but whether they are important to you depends on your set up and requirements. First, when a Sky Q mini box is connected to it I’ve found the quality of the picture becomes quite compressed and pixelated. You’ll notice it close up but the further away the better. The same mini box connected to my old Panasonic featured excellent smoothing. If you use the TV’s Netflix app, the 4K stream is fantastic so I know that the picture quality is excellent aside from Sky. Secondly, I have yet to be able to pair the Sky Q remote to control the volume and power on the TV and have spent a frustrating amount of hours doing it. It will turn the TV on but I have to control the volume and turn the TV off using the Philips remote. My Apple TV 4K controls the TV excellently. Third, Alexa will not play music through my Apple Music skill. That’s not available on this device. I’ve turned off Alexa as thats the only thing I would use it for. Fourth, the Philips remote control gets a bit confused at times and loses both its pairing and ability to control the Soundbar. You have to unplug everything for a few seconds and re-power on and all is okay until the next time. Finally, the number of app’s is limited. I’m fine with it as I knew I wouldn’t use them much with having the Apple TV but It would have been good for Philips to at least allow a larger range of streaming services on there for other people. Not having Disney or Apple TV+ to go with Netflix & Prime is a bit poor in these times but it probably helps keep the cost down. Still adding a 3rd party streaming device can be relatively in-expensive so its more a convenience thing. If you want more streaming service then go with the next model up to get the Android TV inclusive model."
