TCL TS9030 Bluetooth 3.1 Soundbar I can't find a fault!

"Replacing a 1000w Pioneer 5.1 system with this as I wanted more options for connectivity, including Bluetooth and wireless which the Pioneer did not have. So easy to set up, a real quality feel and sound to match- in a good sized living room I did not miss the mega-powerful Pioneer, and the quality as well as volume from the TCL. A real punchy and stylish sub, with fully adjustable Bass and Treble from the main speaker give a really depth and richness to the sound, from a 3.1 system I'd be expecting to top the £450 mark. 5 Stars and very impressed!! Best Budget Sound Bar

"The sound bar sounds amazing, the bass is really powerful but not too much and very adjustable. The sound quality is next to none, it is the best for its price range. Dolby Atmos works quite well also despite being more a software approach. The stereo effect from the method used fills the room quite nicely. "

Excellent - Read on For Atmos info

"I will cut straight to it. This 3.1 Dolby Atmos soundbar is fantastic. I have replaced a very good 5.1 surround set up for this soundbar, as well as changing my LG 49UJ630v tv for a 55NANO86NA.

There are a few things with soundbars to be aware of. Soundbars receive the audio from the source, and then the soundbar decodes the signals. For some people, this will result in a sound lag, however it can be remedied, usually by applying the correct settings. Another thing with Soundbars, is that if they are set-up correctly, they can be fantastic.

This sound bar has many ways to connect your audio source. 3.5m jack, bluetooth, optical and eArc.

If you have a tv with eArc, (enhanced Audio return channel) then this soundbar can be used with eArc. To give you an example of how this works, imagine you have a tv with 4 hdmi slots. HDMI 1 is eArc, HDMI 2 3 and 4 are regular. If your Sky box, PS4 etc etc is plugged into HDMI 2,3,4, your eArc of HDMI 1 would then go into the connection in the soundbar called eArc. If HDMI 2 was being used in this example, the sound is routed via the eArc, whilst your tv still shows HDMI2. This prevents the sound lag that can come with the optical format. Delay is just due to the difference in your tv processing the video, and your soundbar processing the audio. eArc eliminates this in full.

If you will be using an optical cable, you can use your tvs audio sync, as well as the audio sync that this soundbar comes with.

Dolby Atmos is a big win for this soundbar. You will need to check your TV Sound out options first though, as there are many settings in your tv which stop the right sound from coming out, for example some digital sound out is set to Bitrate, or set to PCM only meaning you won't get the incredible sound. Make sure that you go through all of your tv sound settings to make sure you have the right options selected.

A good touch with this soundbar, is it has an LCD panel under the grille ; so when you choose a Dolby Atmos title, it will tell you it is Dolby Atmos. This was mega handy when checking my TV Settings.

The instructions that come with the soundbar are similar to other instructions in that they aren't huge. The set up of your soundbar will be this. Plug it in and turn it on. You're done.

You can use Google home to detect this soundbar and set up the cast option here as well, it is all so incredibly simple.

Onto sound. Hint - it is good.

When i first got it, my tv settings were all over the place, so i was locked on Bitrate. Luckily, due to the soundbar having the LCD display under the grille, I was able to select the correct digital out sound, once this was done it was like i could hear for the first time. Non Atmos stuff will play in its relevant codec, and it is a huge improvement over my 5.1 set up.

I do need you to trust me hear. You won't set this up, and be blown away straight away. After a few hours though when you have acclimatised to the sounds, you will start to snigger when you hear new things. I would highly recommend that you watch something you are familiar with. I love the US Office so i watched a few hours, and i started to hear sounds i wasn't overly paying attention to before. Telephone rings don't sound like they are from the tv, the spatial sound is really really good.

I then watched 6 Underground which is a Dolby Atmos title. I kept looking around me and giggling. It is a truly great immersive audio experience.

Bass is deep and punchy, but it remains within its scope for usage. Some home cinemas and soundbars allow you to increase low pass frequencies too much, which then impedes on the ability to hear high passes. This soundbar does have adjustable bass and treble, however it won't let you go past certain points. This is intentional, and it is good, because it stops you messing your sound up, and having frequencies fighting for attention.

The remote is nice and simple as well, all inputs are labelled clearly, it has separate volume bass and treble controls.

The sub does pair to the soundbar , this process take (yes i timed) 22.34 seconds.

The feel and finish of the soundbar is very very good as well. It feels very well built, the subwoofer is weighty and it feels very sturdy.

If you are looking for a new soundbar, with Atmos, then this is genuinely absolutely stonking for the price point.

If you don't spend some time checking your TV settings, you could end up with basic sound.

If you spend some time though setting it up, you will not be let down by this soundbar, you may find yourself asking why it isn't double the cost."

Really good soundbar with minor defect.

"Really easy to connect. Really good sound quality for this price. Really loud so usually I set up the volume below 10. Powerful bass. Soundbar looks really nice. Unfortunately can't connect it with WiFi so can't use a chromecast. Tried to contact TCL support team but it's impossible through their website and can't call them because of mu working hours. Still think is worth the money and better than Samsung which is in my opinion overpriced. "
