"This is our third (and hopefully final) Neff double oven, the first one lasting 25 years and the second nearly 20. I’m enjoying the different layout with the small oven now being uppermost as this is the more frequently used and the view of the interior is excellent, at my eye level.
The biggest difference from previous models is that the larger oven does not have a ‘conventional’ setting (where the temperature would be hotter at the top and cooler at the bottom). I’ll miss that. It has instead two fan settings and they are all fairly noisy which hasn’t been a problem in lockdown, but when we start entertaining guests I’ll be very aware of the oven fan noise.
A small but significant issue is that the timer ‘pinger’ is markedly inferior to previous versions. It is a weak, quiet, dull sound and only pings 10 times - hopeless for ageing ears. I’ve had to buy a clockwork kitchen timer as backup. Also, one of the rather cheap-seeming knobs doesn’t stay pressed in so we leave them all out.
However, it’s lovely to have a new cooker with its much brighter lights, and the shelf rails unclip really easily and can go in the dishwasher so are much more likely to stay clean compared with when you had to unscrew them.
It heats up quickly, seems well built (apart from the knobs and timer!), looks good and was reasonably priced.
