Outstanding Product

"Had the Television just over a week now, the LED's work great whether it be for going along with music or watching TV/Gaming. The sound isn't bad, the colours really pop (it's very impressive considering it isn't an OLED). Overall the product has no downsides from a personal standpoint considering the amount I paid. Would recommend to anybody looking for a snazzy TV around this price point."

Great picture

"This Philips tv has a great picture and the ambilight feature really enhances the experience. the remote is also great as on the rear you have a keyboard. The voice control isn't great as yet, it only seems to work with Google and not regular tv but that might just be me,the channel turnover is slow and it does say Alexa compatible searched for a long time and could not get to work, so emailed Philips and its not released yet should be January annoying and no apps for itv or 4 but overall. It's a great tv wish I had gone bigger "

Great upgrade

"I was upgrading from at 10+ year old HD TV and wanted something that was going to be a worthwhile upgrade, but without the cost associated with a top end set.

My understanding is that this set sits in the mid range, above budget sets but below premium offerings.

The picture out of the box was not instantly impressive, but I've found that the display can be great with the right content and by playing around with the picture settings. I would suggest a quick Google which will lead to forums with suggestions on which settings to change. UHD content on Netflix looks great and so does PS4 content (especially HDR content). I don't have a lot of experience of 4k displays, but if your expectations are reasonable (i.e. your not getting a premium screen) then I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The TV runs on Android and set up seemed simple. I don't think I've explored the depth of content available, but Netflix, Amazon and BBC work fine direct from TV without additional boxes or sticks. The sound seems good for a modern TV. I have a soundbar outputting audio through HDMI, but could have lived with the speakers provided.

The TVs unique feature is the led ambilights around the top and side edges. I found this to be amazing at first and works well with dynamic content (wildlife docs and films). My eye has grown used to it over the past few weeks and I don't find it as dramatic. On that basis I could probably live without it, but it's a cool unique feature nonetheless.

I found buying a new 4k TV confusing based on all the different inputs, screen types and content but this seems like it ticks a lot of boxes for the price. Just be prepared to change some settings to get the best out of it. "

Overall Goodness

"The Good; Core attributes of fine picture quality with vivid colours and deep blacks especially in 4k are really nice, fast processing and sounds okay to boot although i use mine through audio equipment so not really tested that side in any depth, remote is really nice too duel sided with full keyboard on the one side but the killer feature without a doubt is the stunningly beautiful, mesmerising ambilight. Add in pleasant appearance and stand but there are a few buts;

The bad:

Android Tv, humm though on paper it has all the features it’s completely lacking tv catchup features; I expected Itv hub, channels 4 & 5, nowtv apps available for download for catchup.....but no none of those are available on Android TV only Netflix, bbc and YouTube and you can’t download them either, a £50 Roku or Amazon fire stick has all these catchup channel on the home screen this tv does not just s bunch of useless bloatware, i removed about 30 useless apps. What android tv does offer you is to cast from your phone so it can be done on most catchup apps but i for one expected all my media in one place without having to use another device with another remote something my previous and cheap LG had so for me I’ll likely add a Roku stick in the back.

Summary;

Overall lovely device, great picture, fabulous ambilight, slick presentation but AndroidTv is lacking and disappointing. Fine If you want to download games on your tv but really who does that!!!! all you really want is easy access to catchup tv features and sadly that is not built in so beware of android Tv its under developed and underwhelming that aside though this is a great Tv and has a lot to recommend especially the stunning ambilight feature, lovely picture and all for a reasonable price so for me if that means having to get a Roku stick and use 2 remotes well so be it as this Tv is worthy and recommend."

Immersifying TV

"Amazing TV and such a high spec for the price! The image is noticeably different from normal to HD & even more so when you play something in 4K.

The ambilight feature is a real pleasure on the eye & seems to not only extend the image but bring whatever you are watching to life. I love the purchase & would not hesitate in recommending AO as their service was first class."
