Great little microwave

"Excellent value for money. Compact and easy to use, especially for the elderly. 800 watt rather than the usual 700 watt for this type of microwave which is great for heating up meals quickly. All round good value and highly recommended if you just want a straightforward, basic microwave ??"

Hugely disappointing

"Wanted a traditional, dial-type small microwave as a single person just to microwave the odd TV dinner and reheat my cups of tea.

Bought to replace a cookworks (Argos) Microwave I'd owned for 19-20 years but had failed.

Unfortunately it doesn't get rid of any radiated moisture, and the back of the front door is always dripping wet from condensation after use. A crack / hole developed in the base-plate where the runners roll round under the glass plate, near the front not long after purchase, but decided to live with that.

7 months of use and the paint is peeling off where the door meets the microwave and the front plate behind the door has started to rust underneath the paint, all across the front edge.

Learned after purchase that 'Sharp' are now owned by Foxconn, who themselves, aren't the most premium of manufacturers (Cheap Chinese electronics firm).

Didn't expect much for £60, but expected it to last longer than 7 months before I'd feel compelled to replace it, especially since the microwave it was itself replacing lasted 19+ years and was bought for around the same price.

The other reviewer who mentioned the fact the glass plate is awkward to seat properly was also bang on with his assessment. Used to rate Sharp as a quality brand, not any more."
