"I needed a replacement hob after the NEFF original failed after 18 years of outstanding service. Due to a possible kitchen upgrade in the next couple of years I wanted a functional but reasonably inexpensive replacement. The Hotpoint ticked the boxes I required; black/standard size/4 zones including a double ring zone/touch control(rather than knobs)/larger stir-frying zone on the front right. Installation was straightforward apart from the 4 small clips that are supposed to retain the hob - these are more or less impossible to keep attached as the hob is lowered into position. So as the hob was a snug enough fit I dispensed with them altogether. As far as the appearance of the device is concerned, I would have preferred a bevelled edge to all four sides rather than just the front, but it's not a big deal. So far, the performance has been as I would expect. Once I'd come to terms with how the touch controls operate (which differed from my old hob) things seem fine, although the +/- temperature slider is annoyingly imprecise and it's rare to get the desired power level at first swipe. Overall I'm pleased with the look & performance."
