Disappointing

"It doesn’t matter what fabric I put in it, or what setting I use, the dryer has to be reset two or three times because the washing is still wet when it is finished"

A good value machine

"We’ve been putting the Candy CSVV9LG tumble dryer to the test for the past week and here’s what we think.

It’s easy to install (as long as you already have a hole for the vent to go) and is light enough to install yourself. It’s got a large 9kg drum which is perfect for our family of 4 and there’s plenty of functions to choose from. The instruction manual is clear and easy to follow with good advice for helping you to save energy when using the dryer but it is only C rated for energy efficiency.

There are 15 possible programmes to choose from including the ability to customise your setting using Smart Touch. Some of the programmes included are: super easy iron – which leaves clothes with a small amount of moisture to help the ironing process, cotton – which is a hang dry option, shirts – to help avoid tangles and creases, baby – for the most hygienic level is needed, jeans, wool finish and relax creases which is a 12 minute cycle to help relax any creases in your laundry.

One thing I would like to be able to see is how hot these settings get as some items require a low setting and others a high setting. Without referring to the manual, I don’t always remember which settings are high or low heat.

Once the cycle has started, you have 5 minutes in which you can edit the drying selection. You can choose for the items to be: ready to iron, dry hanger, dry wardrobe or extra dry.

It is suggested that you clear the filter out after every cycle which in itself seems like a reasonable suggestion but in truth, the filter isn’t the easiest to use when you’ve got your hands full already (be that with laundry or the kids!). It’s quite fiddly to open and close and to be honest I’ve had dryers with much simpler filters.

There is a delay start button so that you can start the program in 3, 6 or 9 hours. I don’t tend to use this mode as I like to dry the clothes as soon as they come out the wash.

A real negative for me is the lack of any visible countdown feature. I have no idea how long the cyles are going to last which is a real pain if you forget to keep checking back on the cycle and come back hours later to find damp clothes. In my mind, I would take less programmes over the ability to choose a simple low or high setting and know how long the cycle is on for.

Meets the needs of our family

"With 2 children and another on the way we desperately needed a tumble dryer to replace the one which broke. We were impressed by how quiet this one is and how quickly it drys clothes compared to our previous condensing dryer. We will have to see how long it lasts, our last 2 dryers have broken within 2 years... (they have been different brands)."

A bit complicated

"Machine seems well built with lots of features and a lovely large capacity but I haven't quite worked out how to use it yet, Sometimes the clothes come out very damp, even on a cotton setting. I don't seem to be able to get the wardrobe-dry setting to work, so consequently am using the 45 minute dry setting which seems to do the trick. Lint filter is more of a multistep operation than my last, much simpler machine."

Just want to dry clothes

"Too much detail. Needed it in a hurry and was the only option available. Too many settings clothes not as smooth as usual. Poor choice should have researched more."
