It’s a thing of beauty

"It’s worrying how excited I was for the arrival of something I needed to keep food cold, but more concerning is how I have fallen in love with it. It freezes well & I thrill to the clinking or crushing of ice cubes or the splash of an ice cold drink, so far no spillages or problems with excited grandchildren even though I’ve not sussed the child-lock feature. Oh yes, my friends, we throw the instructions straight out in our house. Use the force for everything! My son is a plumber and we trust him to repair everything we break.

The look of this chilling beastie is divine, as though truly wafted here from heaven, I can’t resist a little stroke as I pass by, and have not yet tired of running a baby wipe over its contours to remove those sticky prints.

If I have one complaint *whispers* it’s the very bottom little shelf on the door-in-the-door.... what is it for? I can’t even fit a bottle of yacult ( other little bottles are available ) in it. Worry not, I will make it my life’s work to find a condiment small enough to be stored hither.

My friends are totally jealous that I need not open the entire door to whisk out a bottle of milk for our cuppas, so I can rest a happy woman at last. AO by the way were absolutely smashing too. "

Fridge freezer

"Overall a great product.

The door to door function is not as good as advertised. I would actually not have it at all.

Great Fridge Freezer!

"In my opinion the LG stainless steel looks a lot better than the equivalent plastic looking Samsung models. The control panel for the water/ice/temperature looks sleek and modern with the White light against the black glass. The 'Quick Access' pop open door is great! You'll use it more than you think for all the things you grab out the fridge in a hurry... including the occasion beer! The Water/Ice dispenser is located in the freezer door which leaves more of the freezer available for storage compared with Samsung models that house the Water/Ice Dispenser in the top of the freezer.

Best of the best...

"We chose LG because of the Which? report that they had never had a bad LG fridge freezer and this model on the recommendation of AO....we have not been disappointed. The fridge keeps food much longer than our old American Fridge Freezer and the freezer capacity because of its design is ample. The ice machine is efficient and quiet and the ‘door in door’ design clever and practical....Also it looks magnificent

In our kitchen

A purchase is unreservedly recommended...we had to await restocking at AO...just so glad we did!"

Solidly built product with great door in door feature

"There are many positives to this product, the door and door feature is great and keeps the temperature inside the fridge constant if you just want to grab a drink. It has plenty of room for a big shop for my family of four and the freezer stacks up well. The icemaker and water dispenser are fantastic - the only noise you get from this product is occasionally hearing the water topping up the icemaker. If they could’ve been one addition I would have liked a meat draw to keep raw and cooked meats separate from the rest of the produce in the fridge but other than that it’s a winner."

Great value and nice features

"I had been looking for an American style fridge and freezer to replace my large existing unit for a while, but couldn't find a model I liked that had plumbed water.

This fit the bill as it has even more storage, plumbed water & ice and door-in-door.

The door-in-door is a real highlight as it keeps the majority of the contents cold when the smaller door is opened, conveniently where drinks and common spreads are kept. It's a nice gimmick and one I would have again. A few higher-end models have glass doors but I know my fridge doesn't stay tidy for long so that would be no good for me!

Also included are an egg tray and loose fridge tray- which is surprisingly useful for spreads and condiments when stored on a shelf.

The lighting is by internal LED strips that are very bright making it easy to see what is hiding inside.

There is an extra tray for the freezer if you aren't using the ice dispenser. Just pop the ice storage bin out and clip in the shelf- but remember to turn the ice dispenser off!

The wine/ drinks shelf/ rack is NOT included, it's an extra. No idea on how much it costs.

The fridge is VERY quiet in operation, borderline silent. The water and ice dispenser is noticeable when it's making ice- specifically the motor mechanism of it tipping the 3 ice cubes into the ice bin and dispensing water back into the ice making tray, however this is maybe once an hour and I am being picky.

Included is an activated carbon water filter with push connections, water pipe and an adaptor to fit most water taps. This is a 6 month cartridge (time remaining displayed on the ice dispenser) and costs £20-£30 for a replacement.

The instructions are virtually useless, especially in regard to the ice dispenser and plumbing. I was concerned the ice dispenser wasn't working, I needed to press the hidden test switch (remove ice box and look under the on/ off switch) to kick the ice dispenser into life.

As already posted, ice and more so crushed ice can go everywhere when dispensed. To minimise this, I hold the glass parallel to the dispenser and operate the dispenser button with my hand. One button is used to cycle through the 3 functions of the dispenser, water, ice or crushed ice. It's a minor faff to press once to select ice, dispense that, then 2 more presses to select water again. As the instructions aren't much use I don't know if the default of water can be changed to ice.

Holding one button for 3 seconds activates a child lock to prevent water and ice being dispensed.

The only real negative is the finish of the fridge- it isn't stainless, it's more like a vinyl sticker. Time will tell how well it holds up with 2 toddlers.

Some of the more expensive models have a button to open the main doors, this is an old fashioned pull. The small door does operate with a button.

Warranty is a standard 2 years with LG but there is an option to extend it to 3 or 5 years and this also includes accidental damage cover.

Delivery from AO was great, this is a heavy unit but the 2 chaps put it into the kitchen, removed the packaging and completed the door connections for water and power leaving only the plumbing for the filter to do- as I had requested. Delivery information and updates were good with an ETA on the day. "
