Sharp R360SLM - love it!

"Product is as described, a flatbed solo microwave. The unit is an attractive design, and appears to be solidly built. Two suckers on the rear feet prevent the unit from sliding around, and give a very good grip on smooth granite. Compared to other microwaves I have used, I would say this is not a noisy unit. The fan sometimes continues to operate for a few minutes after removing some foods, and it seems to depend on the amount of steam created during cooking. The buttons are very positive, but require a firm push. The five power levels easily allow from a gentle warming to enough power to reheat a large casserole quickly. The beeping noise, which continues for a few seconds after heating, is a very acceptable level. All in all this is very attractive, easy to use, efficient microwave, which I can recommend if grills and convection are not required."

Can’t fault this flatbed!

"I wanted a simple flat bed microwave, and eventually found the Sharp R360SLM. My very first microwave was a Sharp, bought thirty five years ago, and my son still uses it. This flatbed does everything it says, is simple to use, and seems to have plenty of energy to heat things quickly. Some reviewers have mentioned excessive noise, I find this no worse than other makes Nd models I have experience of. Another comment from reviews was that the fan keeps operating for too long after using the microwave - I found this depended on what was being heated, if there is steam produced then the fan does run on for several minutes to vent the vapour, but if heating something like a cooked chicken leg, where little steam is produced, then the fan does not run on afterwards at all. The buttons are easy to use, but do require a firm push which I became used to very quickly. The look if this model is stylish, and the size makes it suitable for most kitchens. Another nice feature is the two rubber sucker feet at the rear, which prevents the unit from sliding about on the work surface when opening and closing the door. I am very happy with this microwave and would recommend it to anyone wishing to move to a flatbed, without having to have one with a grill or convection facility."

Programming is hard work!

"Nice finish, and we like the flatbed technology: easy to clean! But the programming buttons require a very hard push, too hard for comfort - you can push the microwave backwards if you're not careful - and I can see that this might be a real issue for anyone with any sort of weakness in the hands, especially since most programming operations require multiple pushes of the buttons. I'm sure this could have been done better!"
