"The programmes take far too long, there seems no way to shorten them. Also I wanted a 1600 spin which you can only get on a few programmes. I am not happy at all with this machine."

"Disappointed that the short cycle is 14 mins with a low spin speed,then the next shortest is over 2 hours. Doesn’t offer a intermediary wash of about 1 hour with a fast spin speed. As there are only 2 retired people I find the long programmes uneconomical for our needs. Also why is eco cotton longer than cotton. Other than that it’s a good size,it appears robust although the main Knob is surprisingly flimsy compared to the rest of the machine. The wash quality is good. However my star rating is lower because of the length of the wash cycles!"

"Very quiet which is important to us. The programmes selection is absolute child's play even my husband can manage it. The 14 minutes wash is really good. Really pleased with the Smeg and it looks pretty good as well. "

"I chose this machine from the reviews written and that Smeg had a good name. I find the spin cycle vibrates the machine more than my old machine did. Most of the wash cycles are really long and to switch it off you have to change the wash cycle from the one you have used to another one. No stand alone spin cycling. It didn't get the cricket whites clean, even though I pre treat them. Every time someone walks near the controls when the machine is washing it will bleep and pause the wash, making the touch control to sensitive. When not in use if left on at the mains and someone walks near it, it turns on ready to wash so i have resulted in turning it off completely when not in use. So many choices but never the ones i want together. Very disappointed "

"We replaced our previous SMEG washing machine (a 5kg load machine) with this WMF916AUK because our previous machine performed very well for 9 years without fault.
This machine, although it looks better, is nowhere near as good. The main problem is the spin cycle, it is very prone to excessive vibration which is both noisy and cannot be doing the machine any good in terms of wear. After almost every wash I have to reposition the machine. It is operating on a solid level floor, the same floor as its predecessor so its not the installation thats the problem.
We have also found that although we now have a bigger drum, a like for like wash takes much longer to complete.
We have had this machine a few months now, but unless we suddenly find a way using it in way that doesn't vibrate then I doubt we'll buy another SMEG.
