Hoover HFF195XWK 50/50 Frost Free Fridge Freezer Review

"I actually inherited my previous fridge freezer from my Grandmother and I think she bought it in the late 90’s, so I was well over due an upgrade. One of my main problems with my previous fridge freezer was that the freezer section would get full of frost, to the point where I was having to defrost it every 2 weeks or I wouldn’t be able to get the door closed properly or anything in or out of it. Because of this, it was really important to me that I got a frost free fridge freezer. When I was looking for a new fridge freezer I found this Hoover model, which is frost free and also has the added bonus of a drinks dispenser. I wasn’t really looking for a drinks dispenser in my new model but I’m really glad that I got one. It really does bring it up from being a standard fridge to something a bit special in your kitchen.

The fridge is skinny at 55cm wide, I think the standard is 60cm, but it makes up for it in height. It’s taller than me! The fridge compartment is 181 litres so doesn’t lack space at all, with 4 shelves and a salad draw at the bottom. My previous fridge only had 3 shelves in total and have the extra one is really noticeable. Over Christmas season we always have a full house, last year was a bit of a squeeze getting all the food in the fridge, I actually had to leave drinks to cool outside in the shed because there wasn’t enough room (and no one wants a warm beer). With this new fridge I won’t have any space problems in the fridge. The freezer is also quite large with 100 litres of capacity. It has 3 drawers of the same size, 1 slightly deeper draw at the bottom (which is really handy for larger items), and a small compartment at the top where I keep ice cubes and other smaller items. When you open the freezer door you can feel the air circulating inside, which keep the frost from building up. I’m really impressed with the capacity of the fridge and the freezer, the only small issue I’m having is because of the drinks dispenser the door shelves are smaller so getting larger bottles of milk in the door will be a struggle. But with the amount of space in the fridge I can put it on one of them if I need a really big bottle and I love the drinks dispenser so I don’t mind it taking up space.

I got the fridge in silver to match the rest of my kitchen appliances and it looks really smart, it fits in with my kitchen perfectly. It looks really nice and with the added drinks dispenser on the front it makes it look even more impressive.

The energy rating is really important to me and this is A+, which isn’t the best out there but very, very good. With my previous fridge being so old, I imagine this energy rating will make a big difference. The compressor on the back is only 42dB which isn’t noisy at all when it kicks in, I hardly even notice it. My last fridge was really noisy compared to this one.

My overall verdict is I’m really very impressed with this fridge. The price point was exactly what I wanted and having a water dispenser at that price point really is an added bonus. It doesn’t have wine racks or some of the features other more expensive fridges have but what it does have it does very well. It looks really smart, is very spacious, and vast improvement on my previous model. I highly recommend it.

Great family fridge freezer

"The fridge freezer looks great.its slimmer than the one I had but taller so I was a bit worried it would be too small for my family of six but it's got a very large fridge with a large salad/vegetable tray at the bottom, three shelfs which can be moved around the fridge to suit your needs.i have loads of space with a full fridge.the freezer has five drawers the top flips down and the bottom one is really big overall great buy frost free."
