"Lots of programme options, easy to install, love it so far"
"Looks very similar to my 10 year old dryer (which had broken) but with some differences. This is 8kg instead of my old 7kg but fits in the same space under the worktop. Hope this will be more energy efficient but time will tell. Can still wind up the clothes/sheets/towels together which it claims not to do, but not a problem to stop the programme and separate. Sound is not intrusive but we have it in a utility room off the kitchen anyway. Seems to dry well and often quicker than it originally shows on the timer. "

"As this had good reviews from others for its ability to actually get washing fully dry and as it has a reverse function (which should theoretically help prevent washing getting tangled), it was on paper better than many other heat pump tumble dryers.
Alas my recent go at drying 9 long sleeve cotton shirts together at once needed an intervention to untangle the arms half way through. This was because, left to its own devices for a couple of hours (which is how long it took), they would have all come out in one giant knot - disappointing for a dryer which supposedly has a reverse function.
It is a little loud and you can hear the heat pump running over the fan so it would be best placed in a room with a good closed door between you. I was a little surprised that the heat exchanger itself doesn't come out for cleaning but merely a fine mesh filter covering it. Cleaning this and the lint filter as well as emptying the water tray is easy enough however and the scrolling text on the control screen reminds you to do so at every opportunity (irrespective of whether you've just done so or its brand new and hasn't even been used yet).
The door is a little different in that its full width and is hinged on the left so when opened fully be aware it may foul anything immediately beside it on the left that's flush with or protrudes in front of the door hinge. It's also opened by pressing in to release the latch first so don't do what I first did and try pulling it open from the outset!
No complaints about its ability to eventually get the washing dry however and unlike previous vented dryers I've had experience with, the washing isn't roasted at high temperatures. This means that things like towels come out soft, fluffy and only warm, rather than hot. The fist time I used it, it did shut off a synthetics dry early (with lots of fleecy things in it), but since then I've used the cotton setting for everything (even with some non-cottons) and it gets things dry.
It does seem that there's an over-abundance of control settings for my liking with settings for different temperatures and dryness levels galore - that's if you didn't want to use the timed drying options instead. I cant help feeling that had Hotpoint reduced the number of setting options and instead concentrated more on preventing washing from tangling and used a more standard tumble dryer door, that this would have resulted in a better product.
I still give it 4 stars though because unlike other dryers I've read about, at least it does get the washing fully dry - at least when set for Extra Dry."

"Only used a couple of times to try it out but dries well and seems fairly quick. Time will tell once Winter sets in but will be better than my old vented machine that needed a hose out the window!"

"The first time we used the dryer it took ages to dry our clothes. (3hours) but after using the self time settings we could get a full load done in (40 minutes) really good dryer better than any other We have had u just need to give it the first programme to get the heat pump started !! Fully recommend well worth the money!"
