I hate this oven

"I hate this oven with a passion. I am only glad that today it finally broke giving me an excuse to buy a new one.(I’ve had it 3 years!). I am literally grateful for the burden of having to spend £500+ unexpectedly.

There are so many poorly designed features on this oven that I barely know where to begin. But I will begin so sit down strap in and prepare yourself.

Firstly, that stupid bar at the front. Pointless. It’s flimsy and sits right across the timer and knobs. I’m going to save money on chiropractic at least. Having to bend down to see what settings it’s on have taken two inches off my height. It’s even started to corrode. It stops you from wiping the crumbs off the top and collecting them in your hand. So annoying!

Next, that timer drives me up the wall. So, apart from being obscured by the bar, the timer has the ability to control the oven but that means that you need to set the clock before the oven will work. Personally, I keep my cooker turned off at the wall for safety reasons so when you turn the oven on, you need to set the clock or it won’t work. The amount of times I have gone to put something in the oven, then realised that the oven hasn’t warmed up because I forgot to set the clock; so many dinners ruined.

I have never used the function to turn off the oven at a certain time because I have never trusted anything to cook perfectly according to the instructions so having the ability to turn the oven on and off is pointless and not worth the risk of a cold oven. Especially when it takes at least 15 minutes to heat up.

The oven doesn’t cook evenly and browned pizzas on one side are now something my son has now had to learn to like.

There is a baking tray in the oven that is on runners for some reason. It whizzes in and out so fast it practically throws your sizzling hot food at you. Why?!

The other, frankly dangerous, reason I hate the oven is because of the metal bars on the stupid shelves which are going horizontally which means you can’t slide trays in, they catch on each bar. Stupidly, they sort of drop down a bit too which means the food needs lifting out; making it even more difficult and likely to burn you hands. Oh and they often knock the tops off pies.

The doors are not easy to clean and often gets crumbs stuck inside them and without a screwdriver, are impossible to remove.

Moving on to the grill. Apart from it cooking unevenly, and the bars of the shelf being in the wrong direction the actual grill pan is too deep and there is a stupid bulky handle that attaches in a way so you can’t pick it up or put it down on a flat surface. That’s so inconvenient. Oh and the door of the grill doesn’t fold down flat. So putting the grill pan down makes it slides down towards the oven. A real pain if you’re doing sausages. They just roll.

The knobs are hard to clean because they have this little stick to indicate the heat setting which makes it hard to wipe and all the crumbs collect in the tops of the doors and can’t be removed easily.

Ok. So that’s probably a fair bit of the bad stuff. So what’s good about it? Well, it looks nice. But don’t be fooled by the annoying bar. It’s not worth it.

The hob works well and is cleanable. As long as you like crumbs on the floor. There’s a light in the oven which is useful. Umm….. yep, that’s about it.

So in conclusion, don’t buy this cooker. Run, run for the hills and save yourselves. Buy something else. Nothing to see here. Keep scrolling.
