"My flat came with an ancient Cast iron hob. After a time I got so fed up with the stone age unit so I bought this Belling unit to replace it. O Joy of joys, I have just taken out the Belling unit and put the old one back in.
The Belling hobs themselves were very good, but the control systems made a pain of the whole unit.
1/ The settings for each ring too coarse. The lowest setting on each powerful ring was so low that it barely kept water warm, while the highest was rarely useable. Which left the just seven selectable setting in between as never being quite right for anything. You could choose to keep something very hot or boiling over, if you managed to achieve simmering you were lucky.
2/ The big hassle, however, is that it would not stay on. The fancy touch controls used light sensing to know when your finger touched it. So the unit woulds switch everything of if the ambient light level changed in a certain way. It also had a built 'safety feature' that automatically switched everything off after a certain time, This meant that it couldn't be used for low'n'slow cooking, or boiling down, as it would switch itself off partway through. Coming home from work hungry only to find that the cooker had given up halfway through cooking your dinner has happened too often.
Come on, Belling, you've almost got a lovely unit. Stay away from the gimmickry and this could be very good. But the gimmickry makes it a load of rubbish."

"Nice and wise and easy to fit - look sleek and low profile - Good ring combination and fast to heat - Good control with 9 heat settings and a built in timing. Dual ring is handy and we are using our wok with ease.

"I bought this when we redid our kitchen. I had had a Belling cooker which I loved so thought this was the right choice for a hob. Not really happy with it at all. You have to use the high heat settings as no heat at all from low settings and takes a long time to heat up. Only has one large ring - the outer ring of the front left ring does not warm up. Also the large ring is at the back so really it's only suitable for small saucepans - I like to use a wok and it is useless for that. I would not recommend it."

"This is the second belling 5 ring hob I have owned it had to be replaced due to an accident . This should tell you that I think it is a great product as i replaced like for like."
