"I am not happy with this machine for the following reasons:
1.This machine makes so much noise I try to avoid putting it on during the day time as it is so irritating. It makes an annoying humming sound when washing and a high pitched shrill whine when spinning -at top speed it is so shrill it sounds like a kettle whistling. I contacted Hotpoint who sent out an engineer and he told me this was normal noise!
2. There is no built in timer to delay start of the cycle and it is not possible to use a plug in timer with it.
3.The duration of each cycle is not displayed on the machine so it is necessary to constantly refer back to the manual
4. It is easy to forget to turn the tumble dry function off if not required
5. The shortest programme is 55 minutes
6. When I do a dark wash it is often streaked with white marks."

"Overall we're very pleased with this machine, but we have one or two gripes. It takes awhile to work out the best programme to use for a particular load. The Ready to wear cycle is very useful for washing and drying light loads quickly. That said the standard cotton cycle takes a whole 2 hours - rather long! The drying cycles take longer than on our old Bosch Classix and it's too easy to forget to switch off the drying when you don't want it."
