Built in – Integrated This type of hob is built into your kitchens current layout into a work surface

Ceramic A simple to clean and modern electric hob type, often touch controlled
Control Location Where the controls will be situated, either on the front or sides of the hobs
Control Type The buttons which are used to control the hob, including knob and touch options

Digital Display This type of display is easy to read and displays information about the hob

Electric A type of fuel which is used to operated the hob. They provide fast even heat and even cooking temperatures

Fast Heat This function provides a speedy heating option to help move things along, great when you want to save that extra bit of time
Flame Failure Safety Device A clever safety feature which cuts off the gas supply if the flame extinguishes preventing a gas leak
Freestanding Freestanding hobs can be placed on top of your work surfaces and are great if you want the flexibility to move the hob in your kitchen
Fully Programmable Timers A handy feature which allows you to pre set the time on your hob giving you more control on cooking times

Gas A type of fuel which will be used by the hob to cook your food, simple to use and easy to control
Griddle A flat plate, also known as a grill pan, which is used on the top of the hob for extra cooking options. Great for cooking meat, fish and vegetables

Induction A type of electric hob which heats the bottom of the pan through a magnetic force. Induction hobs need to be used with compatible pans
Induction Pans A pan specifically used on an induction hob which generates heat at the bottom of the pan from the magnetic current given from the hob

Knob Controls A type of control which is used to operated the hob

Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) A specific fuel type only available in certain areas, Liquid Petroleum gas is an alternative fuel type to traditional gas. LPG consists of propane, propylene, butane, and butylene in various mixtures
LPG Convertible An appliance which is LPG convertible will work if you use liquid petroleum gas for cooking and heating your home

Minute Minders A useful feature which allows you to set a countdown timer on the hob which lets you know when your food has finished cooking

Number of Burner / Zone Sizes This is how many heating elements are on the hob, the more burner / zones you have the more freedom and space you will have when cooking

Pan Support Type Choose between either cast iron or enamel supports to rest your pans on, these supports make your pans sturdier when you are cooking
Push Buttons A type of control on the hob, when you push the button in the hob will start to heat the selected zone

Residual Heat Indicator An illuminated light on the hob will be displayed when the hob is too hot to touch, this is when it is in use and also after cooking when the surface is too hot. When the light is not displayed the hob surface will be safe to touch
Requires Hard Wiring If a hob requires hard wiring then it will not come with a standard plug, a qualified electrician is recommended to connect the appliance to the mains electricity supply in your home

Solid Plate This is a type of electric hob where a solid plate covers the halogen zones

Touch Controls A type of control which is operated by the touch of a button. These controls are flush to the surface of the hob making them extremely easy to clean
